#HISTORYLANE: BBC RADIO 1 LAUNCHED TO OUSTED PIRATE RADIO STATIONS BANNED BY GOVT.

September 30, 1967 saw the launching of the United Kingdom's very first National pop radio station, BBC Radio 1, the station was commissioned to replace the rather successful but ousted pirate radio stations, which had been banished by the U.K Government. The station's first on-air presenter was ex-pirate DJ Tony Blackburn (Radio Caroline) while Flower In The Rain by The Move was the first ever music to be played on the station.
